Bunim/Murray Productions launches kids division

Under the leadership of BMP’s kids VP Maria Pepin, the division’s first project, Gotcha, is a youth prank show from co-producers Billy Crystal and Israel’s Nutz Productions

The production company behind Keeping Up with the Kardashians is expanding its breadth of content to include kids TV programming with the launch of youth prank series Gotcha.

The co-production between Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP), comedy legend Billy Crystal’s (When Harry Met Sally) prodco Jennilind Productions, and Israel’s Nutz Productions marks the official launch of BMP Kids.

BMP Kids is led by Emmy-winning producer Maria Pepin, who has collaborated on shows with the likes of Disney, Nickelodeon, DHX Media, Spin Master and DreamWorksTV. The division is also working with Universal Kids and Nick Jr. on several yet-to-be-announced development projects.

While BMP Kids is Bunim/Murray Productions’ first official children’s unit, the prodco began its move into kids content by recently partnering with popular YouTuber GloZell on her new online preschool channel, GloBugz.

As for Gotcha, the show features a diverse cast of charismatic teens who create and execute elaborate pranks on celebrities, innocent pedestrians and each other. Banijay Group’s sales arm, Banijay Rights, holds worldwide format rights for the series, which will be introduced at MIPCOM next week.

Nickelodeon Israel, in fact, has already picked up the show and will premiere it this December. As the kids and youth content arm of Ananey Communications, Nutz has a number of popular shows currently airing on Nick Israel including Spell Keepers, Bed & Biscuit and The Hood, which was just greenlit for a third season.
